Frequently Asked Questions

1. When do I have to pay my grading fees?
You don’t have to pay for your grading until SGC processes and grades your cards. Once SGC posts your grades, we will request payment from you for your cards on that submission. We will ship your cards back once you have paid for the grading and (if requested) any additional insurance. Note: there are some rare exceptions, such as when the value of your cards are worth far less than the estimated grading costs that you will incur. In those rare instances, we reserve the right to request partial or full payment prior to submitting your cards.
2. What is your processing time between when you receive my cards and when you ship them to SGC?
We do our best to process your cards within 2 business days of arrival at our processing center. We ship to SGC multiple times a week.
3. How quickly do you ship cards back to me once they’ve been returned by SGC?
We typically ship orders back to customers within 24 hours after receiving back from SGC.
4. Can I send in cards for different service levels and/or across different card eras?
Yes - this is one of many benefits of submitting with us. While other SGC group submitters often require you to sort your cards and/or submit multiple forms or even shipments, we will take care of the heavy lifting for you. When you have cards in multiple service levels though, remember that the fee per card and your processing time will vary.
5. Why do I have to list out all of my cards? Why can’t I just send you everything?
We have found over the past 20+ years of submitting cards for grading that this documentation protects you (the customer) and us (your service partner). When we receive your cards we are able to quickly confirm receipt of all cards listed on your spreadsheet and contact you if any cards are missing from either the spreadsheet or the shipment.
6. How do I calculate the estimated value of each card on the spreadsheet?
We recommend that you use eBay completed listings for your card in a similar condition. For modern cards, you can use the average sale price for raw cards. In rare occasions, SGC will charge an upcharge if your declared value is far less than the graded value. See next FAQ for more info.
7. What is an upcharge?
Please note that at times, SGC will “upcharge” a card on an order, if the grade received pushes the card into another value tier. Customers are responsible for these upcharges on the rare occasions that they occur, typically on cards that have graded a 10 and increased in value between the time they were submitted and graded. We pass the cost of these upcharges directly to you in your invoice.
8. What is your process for pre-screening and does it cost extra?
While some of our competitors charge $3 or more per card, we prescreen at no charge upon your request. We do not guarantee any grades, we simply judge your cards using the same standards we use for our own cards to try and eliminate any that are not (in our opinion) worthy of grading at the time of submission.
9. What do you do with my cards that are screened out and not submitted to SGC?
In general, we will return those cards back to you at no additional cost. If the number of cards or the value of the cards requires significant insurance, we will contact you to discuss any additional payment required on a case-by-case basis.
10. Can you process grading for customers outside the USA?
Yes, we process submissions for customers all over the globe. The costs are exactly the same other than the return shipping/insurance back to the submitter. Once your cards are ready to ship back and you let us  know how much insurance coverage you want, we can let you know your return shipping cost. We ship using DHL for the safest, most secure method of international shipping.
11. What are the biggest advantages to using your services over sending my cards to SGC directly?
Our prices are below publicly available rates and our prices include return shipping. We also provide free pre-screening and counterfeit detection, we help you evaluate what you should submit, and we are able to provide you with real-time updates on your orders. When you want to work with a professional team, we are here for you.
12. Can you sell my cards for me after they come back from SGC?
Yes, we do offer a SGC consignment program. We charge a flat 25% which covers all eBay fees, PayPal fees, shipping fees, etc., so you receive 75% of the final sales price when we sell your card for you on eBay. You must pay for your grading fees before we will take your cards on consignment.
13. Do you clean my chrome cards for me?
If you own chrome stock cards (Prizm, Optic, Select, etc.), we do recommend that you wipe them before submitting, but this is not a service that we offer. We do not do anything to alter your card in any way once we receive it. Some companies offer to do this as a paid service per card, but we recommend that you save your money and do it yourself before shipping your cards out as it takes only a few seconds per card.
