HISTORY: Got Baseball Cards was founded on May 6th, 1991 by current owner Joe Davis and Jeff Porter under the name J&J’s Sports Section. Joe & Jeff had originally met at Berry College and traveled the show circuit in the SouthEast from 1987-1991, promoting shows and hosting shows in both Rome, GA and Snellville, GA. Our company originally operated out of a tiny 500 foot retail storefront in Avondale Estates, GA. Ron Lee (Online Sales Director) joined our team in 1992. Joe bought Jeff out in 1995 and began turning the company’s focus to more mail-order sales through advertising in such publications as Sports Collector’s Digest (pre-internet days). We relocated the company to Snellville,GA in 1998. We also began selling online to the public that year via eBay. Soon after that, we introduced one of the industry’s first eBay consignment programs for sports cards. In 2001, eBay awarded us with the eBay Award of Achievement for excellence in online selling.
We introduced the gotbaseballcards.com website in 2003 initially to help our customers better search our on-line inventory through both eBay and Beckett. We now have nearly 900,000 unique items to purchase through our Beckett storefront with a revolving inventory of approximately 10 million cards in stock. In 2008, we added www.collectibles-superstore.
com to showcase over 1,000,000 items we are offering on Amazon. This is where we offer not only one of the industry’s finest selections of sportscards, but also other collector’s items.
In 2003, we partnered with Dale Moody to purchase the massive “Disney Diz” collection in Orlando, FL, from former Phillies photographer Diz Trout. This collection included dozens of game worn jerseys, 100s of autographed items, and a large u-haul full of unopened boxes, sets, and singles. In 2008 we purchased a massive store inventory from Thomaston Georgia, which required multiple days to load and multiple trucks to relocate. We remain one of the largest buyers of quality collections in the country.
Got Baseball Cards is also open to the public six days a week (Monday-Saturday) in our Loganville, GA retail location, located just outside of Atlanta. Here we have nearly 11,000 feet of sports cards and collectibles for the entire family. At our retail store, we stock all the hottest new boxes & singles, as well as an extensive selection of supplies and more. We are proud of our stellar reputation within the industry. Our president has previously served as a marketing advisor for the Beckett.com marketplace. In addition, he spent time with other industry leaders in meetings with former eBay president Meg Whitman to help shape the sports collectibles sales through the industry’s most recognized online portal. He actually sat in on meetings when they first discussed a new option called “Buy It Now”. We are proud of the countless relationships that we have built over the years.
